The dungeon

Coming soon

Not every device gets the keys to the castle.

The situation

You may like your smart doorbell and your kid's tablet. That does not mean you trust them as much as the computer holding your work and private files. They do not all need the keys to the castle.

What Freeish does

The dungeon would give less-trusted devices their own part of the network, with limits on what they can reach. They could still do what you allow without getting a free path to everything else.

How it actually works

A capable router and network equipment can divide devices into separate groups. Rules at the boundary decide which groups may talk to each other. For example, a camera might reach the internet but not your work laptop. This is network separation, not the drawbridge's private connection for a device that is away. Freeish has a hardware setup guide, but it does not create, check, or manage those rules for you.

Can I use this now, and what would I need?

Not as a Freeish feature. Network separation can be done with separately managed equipment today, but the dungeon experience and its integration with that equipment have not been built.
